Jim Dotson, 83 of Lodgepole, Nebraska passed away early Tuesday morning, March 22, 2011 at the Memorial Health Center, Extended Care in Sidney. Jim fought a noble battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 25, 2011 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Thomas Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Lodgepole.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Lodgepole Volunteer Fire Department.
Jim was born December 28, 1927, in Franclay, Missouri to Eva and James Thomas Dotson, Sr. He grew up in the Leadbelt Area and served with the Merchant Marines on the SS Columbia Victory during World War II.
Jim had three children in his first marriage. He pursued many careers and was able to easily fit into all positions. He was well liked by everyone.
He met the love of his life, Marian Hart in Sidney, Nebraska. They were married December 24, 1960. Together they raised two loving sons, a daughter and a daughter by Marian's previous marriage along with their loved Andrew Berry.
Jim loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golf enthusiast. Jim also had a natural singing talent and mastered the guitar. He loved and enjoyed life and life loved him back.
He is survived by his loving wife Marian, Her daughter Charlene Lucero, by a previous marriage, Chalene (Daniel) Torres, James Thomas Dotson III, His wife Stacy and Andrew Berry. He is also survived by Dian (Wayne) Scott, Lyla (Walt) Thiemet, Jim (Karen) Dotson, by his first union with Marcella Dotson. Brothers, Ken Conright and Dan Dotson. Grandchildren: Miranda Ceja, Jim Thiemet, Marcy Kappen, Justin Dotson, Angelina Torres, Ethan Torres, Kayla Dotson, Christopher Dotson, Jocelyn Dotson, James, Blake and Deanna Lucero. Great grandchildren, Megan and Makena Thiemet, Taya and Jessica Kappen, Thomas and Megan Ceja and Daniel Ortiz.
Jim is preceded in death by his beloved son Kenneth James Dotson. His parents, James Thomas Dotson, Sr., Eva Conright and stepfather Lester Conright.
