Norreen “Beany” Barker, 46 of Sidney, Nebraska died Sunday morning, March 27, 2011 at her home in Sidney.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, March 31, 2011 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Douglas Peirce of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the family.
Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation. Friends who wish may sign the register book until 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.
Norreen Barker, the daughter of Creg and Lenora (Smith) Barker was born on Christmas day, December 25, 1964 in Craig, Colorado. Shortly after her birth the family moved to California. In November of 1969 they moved to Kansas, then to Wray, Colorado. In February of 1974 they settled in Sidney when she completed high school in 1983. She attended W.N.C.C. the first time in 1986 and went back after working for a time for Cabela’s and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree.
Beany worked at Alco until it closed and then for 2 J’s Liquor until her death.
She spent her life spoiling her nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her parent, Creg and Lenora Barker of Sidney, NE; two brothers: Russell and wife Mandie Barker and Henry and wife Arla Barker all of Sidney, NE; two sisters: Georgia and husband Charlie Popham of Washington state and Victory and husband Brad Wernsman of Sidney, NE; 18 nieces and nephews and 2 grand nieces and nephews.
Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Barker family.
