Margaret Rapp, 82 of Sidney, Nebraska died early Wednesday morning, May 11, 2011 at the Memorial Health Center, Extended Care in Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 14, 2011 in the First Christian Church in Sidney with Pastor Pete Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the First Christian Church or the Nebraska Boy’s Ranch at Alliance, Nebraska.
Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with the family present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Margaret Mae Rapp, the daughter of Thomas and Verna (Stephens) Oram was born October 18, 1928 at Mrs. Anna Cole’s at Julesburg, Colorado. Margaret was very young when her mother married L. (Lorris) A. Pearson, LA was the father who cared and loved her as his very own. They were inseparable, Margaret was his right hand girl and worked the fields right along side her father LA.
On November 26, 1946 she was united in marriage to Mourine Victor Rapp. They made their home on the family farm northeast of Sidney. Margaret was a farm wife through and through, from driving the wheat truck (with her little red bandana on her head) to milking the cows. She raised chickens and milked cows to produce extra income for her personal egg and cream route. She was an avid cattlewoman, and supported her husband in their livestock ventures. She stood beside her husband until his death in 2006.]
Margaret accepted Christ as her personal Savior on January 9, 1938 in Oregon City. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Sidney where she was a deaconess, church treasurer and very active where needed in the church. She was a very proud Mom and devoted Grandma and Great Grandma.
Survivors include one daughter Marlene Higgins and husband Jim of Potter, NE; one son Keith Rapp of Sidney, NE; five grandchildren: Robert (Lianne) Higgins, Anglea (Brooks) Rushman, Christina (Vernon Jr.) Florke, Patty (John) McEvoy and Kim (Tim) Johnson; eight great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Danielle and Elizabeth Higgins, Jacob and Phillip Rushman, Trevor and Justin McEvoy and Maddy Johnson; and one step-brother Merle Pearson of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-sisters Hazel Horst and Glenis Moore and step-brother Paul Pearson.
Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Rapp family.
