Jim “Cliff” Bills, 81 of Chappell, Nebraska died Thursday morning, May 12, 2011 at his home in Chappell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in the Chappell Assembly of God Church with Pastor Richard Graeff officiating. Burial will follow in the Plum Creek Cemetery north of Lewellen, Nebraska.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell.
James Clifford Bills the son of Clarence Earl and Ada Marie (Johnson) Bills was born May 17, 1929 at Lewellen, Nebraska. He grew up in Lewellen where he graduated from high school. He entered the U.S. Air Force and served from 1948 to 1952. He was stationed in Soule, Korea where he was a radio specialist and electrician.
After his discharge he married Prudy Paige and moved to Denver, Colorado. They had three children. They divorced and he was remarried to Geri Berkowitz and had two step-children.
He worked for Gates Rubber in Denver for over thirty years, retiring in 1984. After he retired he moved to Arizona and in the mid 1990’s moved to Chappell where he was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his three children: Bill Bills, Carmen Bills and Phillip Bills all of Denver, CO; two step-children Aaron Berkowitz of Houston, TX and Samantha Bryant of Mesa, AZ; two brothers: Curt Edler of Chappell, NE and Hugh Roth of Johnson Lake, NE; 3 Grandchildren, 3 Step-grandchildren and 5 Great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
