Greg Stanley, 63 of Lodgepole, Nebraska died Thursday evening, June 23, 2011 at his home in Lodgepole.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 27, 2011 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell with Pastor Judy Gifford of the Grace Lutheran Church in Sutherland officiating. Inurnment with military rites will follow in the Big Springs Cemetery at Big Springs, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home.

Gregory Leigh Stanley, the son of John L. and Helen R. (Hefti) was born July 16, 1947 at Lewellen, Nebraska. He grew up in the Big Springs area where he attended school, graduating from Big Springs High School. He then attended Kearney State College. He served in the Nebraska Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972.

He married Ann Kuskie and to this union three sons were born: Scott, David and Steve. They later divorced and on February 10, 1978 he married Connie Yost at Big Springs, Nebraska and became father to Christi, Cyndi and Korey, who he loved as his own.

He worked on the family farm until 1979 when he went to work for Sperry-New Holland in Lexington, Nebraska. When they closed he worked as a farm manager in the area. In 1997 he moved to Lodgepole where he started a center pivot irrigation service. In 1999 he went to work for Cabelas in security, as well as running the pivot service. He was forced to retire due to ill health in 2006.

As well as his family and his dog Molly, Greg loved airplanes and enjoyed guns.

Survivors include his wife Connie of Lodgepole, NE; his mother Helen Stanley of Big Springs, NE; four sons: Scott and wife Angie of Glasgow, MT, David and wife Denise of Billings, MT, Steve and wife Amanda of Glasgow, MT and Korey of Sidney, NE; one daughter Cyndi Janousek and fiancé Rod of Kimball, NE; one brother John R. Stanley and wife Laura of Big Springs, NE; two sisters: Jane Benzel of Hot Springs, SD and Betty and husband Robin Seim of Chapman, NE; 9 Grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, daughter Christi and brother-in-law Dale Benzel.

Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Stanley family.
