Wallace B. Schuler, 86, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Scottsbluff.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Wayne Fraass, P.M.A. officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ash Hollow Cemetery near Lewellen with military honors provided by the United States Army.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.

Wally was born on September 5, 1924, near Potter, Nebraska, to Charles Lee and Klara Margaretha (Fastenau) Schuler. He grew up in Gurley and Broadwater, Nebraska, and graduated from Broadwater High School in 1943.
On December 4, 1943, Wally entered the United States Army and served his first tour of duty during WWII, and he was honorably discharged on January 3, 1946. He married June Michael on June 1, 1947. They made their home in Oshkosh where he worked as a mechanic for Scott Motor Company before Wally was called back into duty with the Army on October 14, 1950, and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from active duty on September 4, 1951. He continued to serve as a reserve for several years later.
Upon his return from the service, Wally and June made their home in Littleton, Colorado, where he worked as an engineer at Martin Marietta Aerospace for several years. He retired in 1989 and they returned to the Lake McConaughy area before moving back to Oshkosh in 2002 where they have resided since.
Wally was a member of American Legion and the V.F.W.
He also enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
Wally is survived by his wife, June of Oshkosh; one daughter, Penny Turpin of Centennial, Colo.; one son, Rollin and his wife Erika Schuler of Littleton, Colo.; four grandchildren, Troy Turpin, Tyler and his wife, Erin Turpin and Rollin II and Bela Schuler; one-great-grandson, Tanner Turpin; and a half-sister, Rosa Lee Schuler of Canyon City, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Irene Schuler of Bridgeport; two brothers, Harley and Everett Schuler; and a son-in-law, Timothy Turpin.
