Raymond B. Sutton, 89, of Ashby, died early Saturday morning, August 13, 2011 at the Alliance Good Sam Village in Alliance.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Alliance with Jim Nichols and Joseph Carty officiating. Private family scattering of the ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ray’s name.

Ray was born on March 2, 1922 in Hyannis, Nebraska to Harry Eugene and Nellie Irene (Boone) Sutton. He was raised in the Alliance and attended school there until he moved with his sister, Bell to Curtis where he attended 2 years of schooling.
On June 29, 1938 he was united in marriage to Margaret Kerr in Denver, CO. To this union 5 children were born.
Ray was a lifetime resident of Garden and Grant Counties. He was an avid rancher and loved taking care of cattle. He was a pioneer in crossbreeding cattle. A favorite crossbreed was the black and white face. Ray received an award for planting over 70,000 trees.
Ray enjoyed spending time with and teasing his loving family and getting to know his heavenly father. He was baptized on September 15, 1974 in Oshkosh, by Melvin Fisher.
He is survived by his wife, Marge, of 73 years; children, Genelle and husband, Randall Holder of Rochester, WA, Larry and wife, Sandy Sutton of Canon City, CO, Dan Ray and wife, Kathy Sutton of Grand Island, NE, Charlotte “Kay” Hubbard of Denton, NE, and Pamela and husband, Rick Bell of Murdock, NE; 8 granddaughters; 3 grandsons; 13 great granddaughters; 9 great grandsons; 1 great great granddaughter; and one brother, Bill Sutton of Alliance; 2 puppies, Dog and Shorty; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.
