Lucille Verna Murray

Verna Lucille Verna Murray, 94 of Chappell, Nebraska passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, October 20, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Sidney.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 24, 2011 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell with Pastor R.J. Snavely of the New Hope Fellowship Church in Lodgepole officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Springs Cemetery at Big Springs, Nebraska.

Memorials have been established to the Chappell Senior Center.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell.

Lucille was born on June 28, 1917 to Joe and Ethel (Lundsford) Adams at Overton, Nebraska. She was raised on a farm and attended country school. She was the youngest of four children and was preceded in death by her three brothers.

In December of 1936 Lucille married Marvin Murray at Lexington, Nebraska. To this union five children were born: Clarence, Gary, Betty Lou, Karen and Linda.

Lucille loved to play the piano and enjoyed music. She loved to raise large gardens while living on farms most of her married life. Some of her hobbies were also crocheting, embroidery, cooking and growing flowers.

Lucille’s family was her life. She would love to get together and play pinocle and was always interested in the happenings of family members. She was a good “listener” and friend to all, wanting the best for her family.

After the death of her husband in 1997, Lucille moved to Chappell.

She is survived by her two daughters: Karen Gentry and husband Gerald of Lodgepole, NE and Linda McNamee and husband Mark of Wheat Ridge, CO; 7 Grandchildren, 18 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great, great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, sons Clarence Eugene and Gary Dean; daughter Betty Lou Morrell; grandsons Randy and David Murray and granddaughters Ronda Gentry and Cindy Vandever.

Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations is Chappell is serving the Murray family.
