Martha Rene-Ola Isler, 89, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011 at her home in Oshkosh, Nebraska.
At Martha’s request, cremation was held and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Martha’s name to the Nebraska Children’s Home Society.

Martha was born in Spalding, Nebraska on November 5, 1922 to Herschell and Irene (Hoisington) Richards. She was born in the Spalding Hotel that was owned by her family. Her father passed away when she was nine and she helped her mother support the family of five.
In 1938, Martha and the family moved to San Diego, California. She worked at many jobs including nanny, waitress, and munitions plant worker. During this time, she became a homeowner before the age of 21. To ease the housing situation in San Diego, she converted her garage into an apartment by doing all the work herself. She continued to support her mother and siblings until her marriage.
Martha was united in marriage to Cecil Earl Isler on January 1, 1953 in Yuma, Arizona.
Martha loved being the mother of four children, Jack, Rick, Elaine and Joe. She was active as Team Mother for her boys’ baseball teams and provided food for any church or school event. Martha was a great cook and expert baker who was known to the children of her Chula Vista neighborhood as the mom who shared her cinnamon rolls with them. Martha was a generous cook and hostess, opening her home to anyone who needed a meal or a place to stay. Some guests stayed one night and others stayed for years.
Survivors include, her husband of Oshkosh; 2 sons, Jack and wife Donna Isler of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Joe and wife Diane of Littleton, CO; daughter, Elaine and husband, John Lake of Oshkosh; 4 granddaughters, Jenna and husband, Randy Ross of Lewellen, Celean Lake of Oshkosh, and Macayla and Madyson Isler of Littleton, CO; brother, Jim Walsh of Prescott Valley, AZ; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Martha was preceded in death by: her parents, son, Rick in 2010; 1 brother; and 2 sisters.
