Melvin Moffat, 66, of Oshkosh, Nebraska passed away Sunday afternoon, December 18, 2011 at the Garden County Health Services in Oshkosh.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church with Father Neal Nollette and Pastor Duane Dunwoody officiating. Rosary service will be at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the church. Burial will follow in the Oshkosh City Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Melvin’s name.
Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh.
Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Oshkosh is serving the Moffat family.
Melvin was born August 15, 1945 in Oshkosh, Nebraska to Harold and Alice (Berglund) Moffat.
Melvin attended school in Garden County and graduated in 1963.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Jo Ardissono on July 6, 1968 in Oshkosh. To this union 2 sons were born, Ron and Brian (Moe). Melvin and Barb made their home in Oshkosh.
After high school he worked for the sale barn a few years, drove truck, and worked for 10 years and Farm and Ranch Fertilizer. He farmed most of his life until he retired in 2005 due to health reasons.
Melvin loved hunting, coffee with his friends at the Senior Center and Kwik Stop, and his black lab dogs. He will be greatly remembered for being a joker and being ornery.
He is a longtime member of the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh.
Survivors include sons, Ron and Dodi Moffat, Brian (Moe) and Jenny Moffat, all of Oshkosh; brother, Allen and Cheri Moffat of Chappell; 9 grandchildren; mother-in-law, Nettie Ardissono; brothers-in-law, Chuck Ardissono and Jerry and Rhonda Ardissono all of Oshkosh; and many other relatives and friends.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, Lila.
