Glenn Pennington, 80 of Sidney, Nebraska died Saturday evening, December 24, 2011 at Memorial Health Center in Sidney.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, December 30, 2011 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Leonard Suhr of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Inurnment with military rites will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home. Friends who wish can sign the register book at the funeral home on Thursday until 5:00 P.M.

Glenn Elliott Pennington, the son of Carl and Grace (Harndon) Pennington was born August 11, 1931 at St. Paul, Minnesota. He moved with his family as a child to southern California where he grew up. He entered the U.S. Army on March 21, 1951 and served during the Korean War. After his discharge in 1953 he returned to California.

On May 2, 1953 he was united in marriage to Lila Loux and to this union five children were born: Holly, Chris, Sherry, T.J. and Pat. They later divorced. On April 1, 1979 he married Christine Salazar and to this union three children were born: Robert, Tina and Aaron.

Glenn was an entrepreneur, owning his own machine shop for a number of years before going to work for Hughes Aircraft. After his retirement, he moved to New Raymer, Colorado in the early 1980’s. He and Christine divorced and he moved to Sidney in the mid 1990’s.

Survivors include four sons: T.J. and wife Lisa Pennington of Sidney, NE, Pat and wife Sue Pennington of Oakes, ND, Robert Pennington of Arizona and Aaron and wife Megan Pennington of Grand Junction, CO; four daughters: Chris Pennington-Boggio and husband Steve of Big Bear City, CA, Holly Veach and husband Bill of El Segundo, CA, Sherry Hagerdorn and husband Ed of Russellville, AR and Tina Pennington of Sterling, CO; 16 Grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and one brother.
