Gordon Todd Carey, 53 of Sidney, Nebraska passed away early Monday morning, January 9, 2012 at his home in Sidney.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the Holechek Funeral Home. Following the visitation Bob and Vera Van Vleet will host a reception from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at their home at 1362 Clark Drive in Sidney.
Cremation will take place and his family will bring him home.
Memorials can be made to the Sidney Masonic Lodge #75 A.F. & A.M. or the Lodgepole Valley Shriners.
Gordon Todd Carey, son of Reta Golden, was born November 8, 1958 at Ogallala, Nebraska. He attended High School in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
On February 14, 1987 he was united in marriage to Kelly Van Vleet and to this union two children were born, Benjamin Todd and Kaytlin Shae.
Gordon worked in the oil fields most of his life. Before retiring he was a driver for Cash Wa Distributing. He enjoyed his houseplants and cacti collection and couldn’t wait to show off any new blooms.
Gordon was a loving father who was very proud to attend his son’s wedding in October and was nervous about a future father-daughter wedding dance with his daughter Kaytlin. He was looking forward to being a grandpa someday and was looking forward to his 25th wedding anniversary coming in February.
Survivors include his wife Kelly; son Benjamin (Bean-o) Todd Carey and wife Chrissy of Sidney, NE; daughter Kaytlin Shae (Little Bug) Carey of Hasting, NE; two brothers: Curtis Carey of Sidney, NE and Bradley Golden of Ogallala, NE; nieces Aleena Fuss of Sidney, NE and Lindsay Golden of Scottsbluff, NE; nephews Aiden Golden of Ogallala, NE and Shane Carey of Sidney, NE and beautiful loving aunts Rilla (Wendall) Draper of Gurley, NE and Maycel Richards of Sidney, NE
He was preceded in death by his mother Reta Golden and grandparents Gordon “Shorty” and Alice Dale Richards.
