Ed Fairbanks, 73 of Lodgepole, Nebraska and a former Sidney resident died Tuesday morning, January 17, 2012 at the Miller Memorial Care Center in Chappell, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor R.J. Savely of the New Hope Fellowship Church in Lodgepole officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.
Memorials have been established to the Miller Memorial Care Center in Chappell.
Edward James Fairbanks, Jr., the son of Edward and Ethel Fairbanks, Sr. was born December 5, 1938 in Cloquet, Minnesota. When his dad passed away in 1955 he helped his mother raise his younger siblings. He graduated from high school in Deer River, Minnesota and went on to vocational school in Kansas where he graduated.
He moved to California and on March 12, 1967 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Corson in Las Vegas, Nevada. To this union nine children were born. He started work at Prestolite Wire in Los Angeles, California in 1963 and in 1984 his company relocated him to Sidney, Nebraska. His wife passed away on February 9, 1995 and Ed retired that same year. In 1998 he moved to Minnesota to help take care of his mother who passed away in 2000. He moved back to Lodgepole in 2003 before entering the Miller Memorial Care Center in 2010.
Survivors include 2 sons: Stanly Mayle of San Bernardino, CA and Gene Mayle of Milwaukee, WI; 8 daughters: Marilyn Mayle of San Bernardino, CA, Lorraina McCabe of Hawaii, Laura Salveson of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Dorothy Hilbun of San Bernardino, CA, Tracy Fairbanks of Sidney, NE, Toni Schade of Spanaway, WA, Jessica Fairbanks Medina of Lodgepole, NE and Ernestine Day of Walker, MN; four brothers: Kenneth (Scoop) Fairbanks of McGregor, MN, Philip (Jay) Fairbanks of Walker, MN, Douglas Fairbanks of Minneapolis, MN and Roger Fairbanks of McGregor, MN; 3 sisters: Hope Thompson of Deer River, MN, Ernestine Day of Walker, MN and Cindy Fairbanks of Los Angeles, CA; 29 Grandchildren and 13 Great, grandchildren.
