James “Jim” Carpenter, 89, of Lewellen, passed away Thursday evening, February 16, 2012 at the Garden County Health Services Nursing Home in Oshkosh.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh with Stanley Morrison and Leslie Pountney officiating.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Garden County Nursing Home Activities Fund.

James Gilbert Carpenter was born on February 21, 1922 at his grandparent’s home 6 miles north of Lewellen to Ross H. and Elsie (Schirmer) Carpenter.
He grew up in Lewellen, attending both grade and high school there.
He began to work with his father at an early age in the house painting trade and continued in that trade until retirement.
He started painting pictures in oil paint shortly after high school graduation – winning several ‘firsts” at the county fair.
He attended home bible services as long as he was able, enjoying the time together with friends.
Jim was a kind and generous brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially by his family.
Survivors include a brother, Harold Carpenter; sister, Jean Boggs; a nephew, Bob Boggs; a niece Shawn Squire and their families; and special friends, Don and Jeanie Printz, Ken and Colleen Wendland and the Denley Norman family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Elsie Carpenter and brother, Sam Carpenter.
