Evelyn was born September 9, 1927 in Westcliffe, CO to Martin and Frieda (Kitzman) Miller. She attended the Adobe School, a one room school through 8th grade, then a Lutheran Parochial school before graduating from Custer County High School. After graduation she moved to Colorado Springs where she worked for the Miller Music Company and then as a switchboard operator for Colorado Interstate Gas. While there she met her husband Robert Kelsey.
They were married on June 24, 1951 and recently celebrated 61 years together. Two daughters, Colette and Cheryl were born to this union. After her marriage Evelyn remained a homemaker, loving to cook and bake (especially breads) and to keep a spotless home. She greatly enjoyed entertaining family, friends, and neighbors along with refinishing furniture and painting her home. Of special joy to Evelyn and Bob was a one room school that they renovated into a cabin looking out at the beautiful Sangre De Cristo Range near Westcliffe.
