Dorwin Howard Reimers, 68 of Dalton, NE died surrounded by his family at home Wednesday morning, November 21, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday November 26, 2012 at United Church of the Plains, Trinity site in Dalton with the Rev. Dixie Voss Anders and Leon “Bud” Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in the Dalton Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to United Church of the Plains, Dalton Volunteer Fire Department, Leyton Public School Foundation, or the Night of Hope.
Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with the family present from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Dorwin, the son of Howard J.N. and Lois E. Birdwell Reimers, was born February 21, 1944 in Dalton, Nebraska at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. He grew up in the Dalton area, attended Dalton Public Schools graduating in 1963. He graduated from Norfork Junior College and served in the Nebraska National Guard. He was honorably discharged to help his Mom with the family farm after his Dad passed away. He was united in marriage to Barbara Fangmeier on September 1, 1968. His love and lifelong occupation was farming. Dorwin enjoyed camping, fishing, and being around kids of all ages. Because of his love for children he was a 4H leader, Boy Scout leader, Youth Group leader, bus driver, and enjoyed his family, friends, and community.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, and 3 children: Bryan and his wife Theresa, Amy and her husband Kevin Henke, and Eric and his wife Kelly all of Dalton, NE; seven grandchildren: Justin and his wife Krystian Reimers, Jeremy and Joshua Reimers, Destinee and Zackry Henke, and Mason and Natalie Reimers all of Dalton, NE; one great-grandchild: Jonathon Reimers of Dalton, NE. Siblings include: Larry and wife Kay Shelley of Sidney, NE, Adalia and husband Gary McGuire of Dalton, NE, Katholene and husband Charles Fangmeier of Hebron, NE, Annabell and husband Russ Rushman, Jane and husband Todd Freeburg all of Dalton, NE. Brother-in-Law Steve and wife Sheryl Fangmeier, sister-in-laws Brenda and husband John Striggow all of Hebron, NE, Jane and husband Tom Tipton of Chester, NE.
He was preceded in death by their son Travis, his Dad and Mom, step father John Heizer, and his parents-in-law, Bruno and Betty Fangmeier of Hebron, NE.
