Pauline J. Atkins

Pauline J. Atkins, 94 of Sidney, passed away peacefully at the Sidney Regional Medical Center, Extended Care on Saturday morning, March 2, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 9, 2013 in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with Rev. Thomas Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials have been established to the First United Methodist Church or the Sidney Regional Medical Center Hospice.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with the family present from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Pauline was a Nebraska native, born January 26, 1919 and raised by her parents Rose and Alfred Johnson in a farmhouse near Potter, Nebraska.

On May 5, 1946 Pauline married Barney Atkins in Phoenix, Arizona. She raised three children and was active in church and the D.O.E.S. Pauline and Barney owned and operated the Atkins Family Shoe Store for many years. In her later years, she enjoyed playing dominos with family and friends and keeping track of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pauline is survived by her two daughters: Holly and husband Craig Brunet of Palos Verdes Estates, CA and Vicki Brauer of Sidney, NE; five grandchildren: Julia Bettinger, Jennifer Brauer, Nick Brauer and Alex and Nicole Brunet and two great-grandchildren Addison and Grahm Bettinger.

She was preceded in death by her spouse Barney, son Dale Atkins, brother Ernest Johnson and sister Betty Rose Johnson.
