Joeretta May Swan

Joeretta May Swan, 87, of Lewellen, Nebraska passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and song early in the morning of March 9, 2013 at the Garden County Hospital and Nursing Home as a result of a stroke.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Wesleyan Church of Oshkosh, Nebraska on Highway 26, the west end of town with Pastor Lynn Lutz officiating. Services will conclude at the church with burial in the Arthur Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 1:00 P.m. to 7:00 P.M. at the Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh.

In lieu of flowers: donations can be made to the Oshkosh Wesleyan Church or to the Riverview Assisted Living Activities Program.

She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on February 14, 1926. She was one of 9 children born to the late Rev. William & Pearl Ingersoll. She is survived by siblings: Marion, David, & Frankie Ingersoll and preceded in death by Dorothy Swan, Roy Ingersoll, Roberta Carmen, Naomi McGlasson, & Eunice Ingersoll.

Joeretta married the late Leland Albert Samuel Swan June 2, 1948 in Kennewick, WA. Joeretta grew up as a pastor’s kid and the family moved to many ministerial locations around the western states. She enjoyed recalling stories of how God met the needs of their struggling household of 11. Her favorite pastimes included her family, talking, quilting, crocheting, plastic canvas, playing her keyboard while her husband whistled, always sharing her homemade gifts with others, sharing the love of Jesus and winning bingo at Riverview! She also loved caring for her 23 year old cockatiel, “Chico”

She is survived by two children: a son – William Samuel Swan & wife Kathy of Bartlesville, OK; a daughter –Lela May Lois DeCock & husband Gary of Keizer, OR.
Grandchildren: 3 grandsons – David Swan and wife Stacey of Dewey OK; Joshua Swan, & Jedidiah Swan & wife Davina of Bartlesville, OK; 2 granddaughters – Brenda Lee DeCock of Springfield, OR; April L. Minton & husband Kevin of Kennewick, WA.
She is also survived by 4 Great-Grandchildren.
