Delores Devine, 87 of Lisco, Nebraska died Saturday evening, May 4, 2013 at her home in Lisco.
Memorial services were held at the Notre Dame Catholic Church in Lakewood, Colorado on Monday, May 13, 2013 with inurnment of the cremains at Fort Logan National Cemetery following the services.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Gall’s Catholic Church in Lisco at a later date.
Memorials have been designated to St. Gall’s Catholic Church.
Delores Ophelia Devine, the daughter of Oscar and Lottie (Radke) was born September 16, 1925 at St. Paul, Nebraska. She attended her first three years of high school at Lisco. When the Lisco High School closed in 1944, she finished high school at St. Anthony’s Academy in Sterling, Colorado. In 1946 Dee was one of the escorts for Robert Taylor and Wallace Berry at the Armistice Day Celebration in Lisco.
Soon after graduation she joined the Army Air Force where as an officer she traveled in Europe and North Africa. It was during this time that she met her future husband. She married Fred Devine on October 20, 1957 at St. Gall’s Catholic Church.
After her discharge, she worked for Hewlett-Packard in Loveland, Colorado. After many years in Colorado, she returned to Nebraska to the peaceful little town of Lisco to enjoy the rest of her life, and of course cheer on the Cornhuskers!
Dee, as her family called her, was artistically inclined and loved to draw and paint with oils. Another of Dee’s passions was cooking. She loved making homemade soups with home-grown vegetables and lots of spices. Dee was adored by her family and friends and had many interesting stories to tell.
Delores is survived by her sister Eleanor Henderson of Littleton, CO and her brother Daniel Troy of Platteville, CO and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Lavita, Sally, Jerry and Lois.
