Karen Yvonne Fecht was born May 16, 1955 to Herbert and Darlene Fecht in Dalton, Nebraska. She grew up in Dalton, and graduated from Dalton High School in 1973. She then attended the Lincoln School of Commerce, graduating in 1975, from there she went to work at Commercial Federal Bank. While working at the bank she met her husband, Chip Wedberg.
Karen and Chip were united in marriage October 16, 1976 in Dalton, Nebraska. They lived most of their married life in Omaha raising their three children, Anna, Ali, and Joel. During this time she ran her own in-home daycare.
The past 13 years brought many changes to Karen’s life. In 2005 she moved to Tucson, Arizona to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren. She loved the desert and the southwestern culture. She worked as an office manager for Natural Life Chiropractic where she met many people who would end up becoming dear friends. In 2008 she moved with one of those friends, Valerie Vigil, to Phoenix, Arizona. In Phoenix she worked for Artistry in Motion, a company that makes custom dresses for professional dancers. Karen went all over the country selling dresses at dance competitions. She was able to travel to many places she had never been including New York City and Canada. Last year she decided that she was ready for another change. She bought a home in Tucson, and began working as House Director for Alpha Xi Delta sorority in Lincoln, Nebraska. When the girls were on break Karen would come to Tucson.
Karen loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was creative and talented, and could do anything she put her mind to. She was an accomplished cook, gardener, and seamstress. She loved to travel, read, go to the movies, drink gin & tonics in the summertime, eat reuben sandwiches, and take the grandchildren to basketball games and swimming at the pool.
