Margaret Minnie Marie Ehmke was born March 26, 1921, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Franzen) Ehmke northwest of Sidney in a farm house on land her father had homesteaded. She attended Bunker Hill school and graduated from Sidney High School. She was baptized April 24, 1921 at Salem Lutheran Church in Gurley and confirmed on 1935.
Having been born without a right side hip socket, her kind and gentle nature hid a lifetime of pain. She expected no favors and with determination she helped with farm chores, played softball and other recess games at school.
After graduation she became a bookkeeper, working at several establishments in Sidney such as Elwell Motors and the Sidney City Offices. She also helped her brother, Johnny on the farm. When she retired she took care of her aging father for many years. She continued helping Johnny during harvests. On Sundays they enjoyed driving around looking at the crops. Margaret loved animals, especially dogs. One little dog became like family to her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dora, brother Johnny and an infant brother and sister. All aunts and uncles are deceased as well as several first cousins. Deceased from the Margaret and Bill Juedes family are first cousins August, Helen, Evelyn and Leona. From the Peter and Carrie Beyer family deceased first cousins are Agnes, Mildred, Mary, Andrew and Leonard.
Surviving first cousins
are Josephine and Ella Mae of the Beyer family.
