Cecil was born in Grandfield, Oklahoma on October 21, 1921 to Robert and Hazel (Sharp) Isler. He was always proud to be a 10th generation American. He grew up in the oilfields in Texas and Oklahoma during the oil boom and also earned his spurs as a cowboy on a New Mexico ranch. During his teens he learned what hard work was all about and developed a great work ethic. Cecil had great coaching skills, and always understood that a person’s character counts.

Cecil was a member of “The Greatest Generation” serving on active duty with the US Army 45th Infantry Division and later the US Navy from 1939 through WWII. He retired from the US Army Reserve as a Master Sergeant in 1964.

After military service he began work as a civil servant at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego. He met Martha Richards in San Diego and they were united in marriage on January 1, 1954 in Yuma, Arizona. Cecil retired from North Island in 1973 and he, Martha, and family moved from Chula Vista, CA to East Wenatchee, WA to grow apples. Later in life, Cecil and Martha travelled extensively in their motor home throughout the continental United States, Canada and Alaska, always looking for the perfect fishing spot. They settled in Oshkosh, NE in 1986.

Survivors include: 2 sons, Jack and wife Donna Isler of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Joe and wife Diane of Littleton, CO; daughters, Elaine and husband, John Lake of Oshkosh, and Robbie Pineau of Los Lunas, NM; 4 granddaughters, Jenna Ross of Lewellen, Celean Lake of Oshkosh, and Macayla and Madyson Isler of Littleton, CO; 1 great-granddaughter, Brynlee Ross of Lewellen; brother-in-law, Jim Walsh of Prescott Valley, AZ; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
