Janetta Mae Lawler left this life to join our Lord and Savior on Monday, Nov. 12, 2013 at her home surrounded by family after a long, brave and hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. She accepted that it was God’s plan and never backed down from the challenge of winning her battle.
A Celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 18, 2013 in the Evangelical Free Church in Sidney with Pastor Doug Birky officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Jann’s name. Donations can be directed to Evangelical Free Church, 2763 11th Ave., Sidney, NE 69162 with designation to be determined by the family at a later date.
Jann was born in Houston, TX. on Nov. 21, 1966. She graduated from high school in Jacksonville, TX, where she was a Rangerette and attended college at North Texas University in Denton, TX.
Jann met Todd while working at Foot Action in Dallas, TX in 1994 where he enticed and won her over with a Zinger one day and the rest is history. They married in Las Vegas on May 24, 1996 surrounded by friends. They settled in their first home in Bedford, TX in 1996 where God blessed them with 2 beautiful healthy children, Madison Rose and Jeremy Todd. They relocated to Olathe, KS in 2003 to a new job where they made many friends and then settled in Sidney, NE in 2006. Her love was vacationing in Branson, MO with family.
Jann served in many organizations in many capacities: Grants Manager for Kids Plus, Inc., Vice President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Board Member on Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Representative on Sidney Planning Commission, Manager of Teens in Prevention Program, President of Sidney High School Booster Club and various positions within elementary Booster Clubs, original organizer and advocate for Rocktoberfest, fundraising leader for Sidney High School Danz Team, Award Winner of Region 1 Behavioral Health Authority and member of Evangelical Free Church, all while being a loving wife and mother. Her many friends will remember Jann’s smiling face and all the love and friendship she showed to everyone.
Jann is survived by husband Todd Lawler, daughter Madison, son Jeremy of Sidney, NE and sister Jackie Grayson of Tyler, TX.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joan and Jackie Glenn Strickland, sister Sandy Beane and brother Randy Kimmey.
