Verna Olsen, 79, of Oshkosh passed away on Friday morning, November 22, 2013 at the Garden County Health Services Nursing Home in Oshkosh.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.

Verna “Marlyn” Olsen was born October 3, 1934 at the Sisters Hospital in Hot Springs, SD to Vernon and Reva (Cockerham) Garrett. Marlyn’s father worked construction while she was growing up so she lived in various locations in the western United States, graduating from Umatilla High School in Umatilla, Oregon in 1952.
Marlyn married John W. “Jack” Davison February 17, 1953 in Hot Springs, SD. Marlyn and Jack had 2 children John and Mary.
On June 19, 1976 Marlyn married Herb Olsen in Victoria, BC. Besides Herb joining her family were 3 daughters Linda, Jackie, and Roxy. Herb and Marlyn made their home in Sekiu, WA for 36 years. Marlyn loved her sea side fishing community, where they were honored as Sekiu pioneers. She was very active in her church, Red Hat Society and the senior center while in Sekiu. With changes in her health Herb and Marlyn moved to Oshkosh, NE to be near family in 2012. Marlyn was an accomplished artist she liked all mediums but chalk was her favorite, she even had one of her paintings accepted and hung in the United States Postal Service Office in Seattle, WA. Besides painting, Marlyn also enjoyed gardening, crafting especially crocheting and knitting, fishing, clamming, reading, cooking and canning.
Marlyn is survived by her husband Herb, son John (Trish), daughters Mary and Roxy. Grandchildren, Jereme (Christy), Ivy (Tyler), David, Jared, Justin, Kristy, Charlene (David), Teresa, Charles and Angela and several great-grandchildren.
Marlyn was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jeanie, daughters Linda, and Jackie.
