James Max Robinson was born August 18, 1934 to Harry and Leola Robinson in Decatur, Indiana. He moved to Sidney in 1956 to build the safflower plant (Pfizer) along with his father and uncle. He married Sherri Bauman of Sidney in 1960. They spent their early married life in Florida where he developed his life long love of the ocean and deep sea fishing. They later moved back to Sidney where they raised their family. He worked for Highway Aircraft Corporation and was a key part of the team that built the prototype for the 3 wheeled car, The Fascination. Jim operated his own body shop and radiator repair shop for the remainder of his working years. He was known for his MacGyver like ability to fix anything under any circumstance.
He was a member of the Elks Club, Kiwanis and served on the City of Sidney City Council.
After spending the majority of their lives focused on raising their children, he and Sherri enjoyed an active retirement. They traveled and toured the US, Europe, Costa Rica and Mexico. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, traveling in their motor home, was an avid World War II buff and spent many happy hours at their cabin at Lake McConaughy with their friends and family.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Sherri (Bauman) of 53 years, son Brad Robinson of Lincoln, NE, daughters Lisa (Gary) Rimington of Gering, NE, Michelle (Tom) Beeney of Mitchell, NE, Leslie (Dan) Beets of Boise, Idaho, Wendy Robinson of Omaha, NE., and his sister Joyce Pike of Englewood Colorado.
