Rose Marie Karnik, 94, a longtime resident of Cheyenne County, died early Sunday morning, February 2, 2014 at Sidney Regional Medical Center, Extended Care in Sidney.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Art Faesser officiating. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Friends who wish may sign the register book on Friday at the funeral home.
Rose Marie, the daughter of Anton and Matilda Tresnak, was born on June 7, 1919 in Dodge, NE. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Allen, in 2010 and 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Joe Tresnak, Fr. Anthony Tresnak, Emily Sladovnik and Betty Emanuel.
She was married to Allen Karnik, son of Dr. Jerome and Rosalie Karnik, on Feb. 5th, 1940 in Dodge, NE. They moved to a farm North of Potter in the 1940's. They moved to Sidney in 1951 where Rose Marie was a legal secretary and also worked in the office of Egging Cab Company.
She was active in the Sidney Chamber of Commerce, Catholic Daughters of America, and Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, dancing and traveling. They had a winter home in Mesa, AZ where they enjoyed many winters with their friends.
She is survived by one son, Gary Karnik and his wife Kathy of Ft. Collins, CO and one daughter, Judy Paulson and her husband, Clayton, of Clovis, CA, four grandchildren, Todd Karnik of Denver, CO, Lisa Anderson of Topeka, KS, Lori Henne of Scottsdale, AZ and Trisha Peterson of Coalinga, CA and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kristin King, and two sons who died in infancy.
