Lee, as he was known to family and friends, was born September 6, 1929 on a farm near Oshkosh, the son of Harold and Evelyn Madison. He attended schools in Garden County and graduated in 1947 from Garden County High School. He worked with his father on their farm.

He survived several farm accidents including being thrown from a horse in 1953 which lead to a three-week coma. He recovered from that accident only to be badly burned the next summer in a mechanical failure of a machine he was using. Despite these serious health issues, he maintained a positive outlook and returned to full time farm work. Lee spent several years at River View Assisted Living in Lewellen and his final years at the Garden County Nursing Home where he enjoyed the friendship of staff and friends.

Lee is survived by his sister, Carol Israel; nephew, Mark Israel; nieces, Mary Daymont and Melinda Frame; six great nieces and nephews, Melissa Lee, Mary Anne, Brett, Zane, Danielle, and Will; great great niece, Caroline Madison Shaugnessy born in 2014; friends, Scott and Diana Fetters, and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1978, father in 1995, and an infant brother, Rodger Preston Madison in 1935.
