Norris Tophoj

April 30, 1940 — December 29, 2014

Norris Tophoj, 74, of Oshkosh passed away on Monday afternoon, December 29, 2014 at the Regional West Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Oshkosh with Brenda Tophoj, PMA officiating.  Burial will follow in the Berea Lutheran Cemetery south of Oshkosh. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Norris’ name may be left to the Sidney Regional Medical Center Hospice or to the Regional West Garden County Hospital- Tree of Lights.

Norris Truman Tophoj was born on April 30, 1940 in Lewellen, NE to Ernest and Donna (Kechley).  He attended District 5 School.  He graduated from Garden County High School in 1958.  After high school he moved to Julesburg where he worked in a grocery store before returning to Oshkosh to farm with his father.

On Aug 28, 1960 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Rogers.  They made their home in Oshkosh where Norris worked the land, farming and raising livestock.  He did custom harvesting for a few years.  Norris will be remembered as a hard worker and found his joy in getting the job done.

He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed playing cards and his family, especially his grandkids.

Norris is survived by daughter, Tami and husband Chuck Frye of Kearney; sons, Kevin and wife Jennifer Tophoj of Ogallala and Jeff and wife Bobbi Tophoj of Oshkosh; 5 grandchildren, Ashley and Kelsey Frye and Tyler, Seth and Hallè Tophoj; 3 step grandchildren, Jordan and husband Seth Brown and Dru and Jake Estrada; step great-grandson Maxten Brown; 1 brother; 5 sisters; 2 sister-in-laws, Roma Rogers of Oshkosh and Doris Rogers of Woodward, OK and many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Donna Tophoj, and wife, Charlotte Tophoj in 2000.
