Christopher L. Maas

Christopher Lee Maas, age 26, of Potter, NE passed away Friday, February 20, 2015, in an automobile Accident near Dix, NE.

             Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday February 25, 2015, at the Prairie West Church in Potter, NE with Pastor Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Burial will be held in the Potter Cemetery immediately following the ceremony.

Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.

Memorial contributions can be made in Christopher's name to the Potter Volunteer Fire Department or donor's choice.             

             Christopher Lee Maas, the son of Craig and Lori (Harms) Maas, was born March 15, 1988, in Sidney, NE. He attended Potter-Dix Schools graduating in May of 2006. In high school he participated in football, basketball, track, one-act plays, speech, and choir. His favorite sport was basketball, in which his team made it to the state tournament his senior year.              

  He attended Colorado State University and Front Range Community College in Fort Collins, CO from 2006-2013 studying Web Authoring. In 2013 he returned home to pursue his passion of farming. Chris started driving tractors at age 12 and working full time in the summers at age 14. During his years in college he returned home every summer to work on the farm bringing along several of his closest friends to work with him.                 

Chris enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and friends, traveling with his family, going to Nugget's games, and any activity that included all his numerous close friends. Some of his fondest memories are of the many camping trips with his family and friends. Chris was especially close to his sister Amanda who he always considered to be his dearest confidant. Chris also treasured his time with his Grandpa Merlin, working with him on the farm.               

He is survived by his sister Amanda Maas of Potter, his parents Craig and Lori Maas of Potter, grandparents Merlin and Lois Maas of Sidney, and grandparents Donna and Jack Johnson of Kimball.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa Elwood Junior Harms.
