Lenard Stichka, 61 of Brighton, Colorado and a former Sidney and Bridgeport resident died Tuesday afternoon, July 14, 2015 at the DaVita Brighton Dialysis Center in Brighton.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in the Bridgeport Church of Christ with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Services will conclude at the church with inurnment to be held at a later date.
Memorials have been established to the Bridgeport E.M.S. or the donor’s choice.
Lenard Earl Stichka, the son of Joe and Dorothy (Sibbitt) Stichka was born March 31, 1954 at Alliance, Nebraska. He grew up in Bridgeport, graduating from Bridgeport High School in 1972. While in high school he participated in football and wrestling.
On April 21, 1972 he was united in marriage to Josie Biberos. To this union two sons were born.
After high school Lenard worked in several tire shops before starting his own tire business. During this time he became very successful in power lifting and shared his knowledge by coaching kids in Bridgeport.
He then found his calling as a paramedic working full time in Sidney for several years before moving to Rosebud, South Dakota. While a paramedic he taught recertification classes throughout the area. Lenard was working at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff working towards credentials to be a respiratory therapist when ill health forced his retirement.
Lenard enjoyed fishing and staying up to date with power lifting.
Survivors include his two sons: Joseph (Jenni) Stichka of Sidney, Ne and Jason Stichka of Aberdeen, SD; his mother Dorothy Stichka of Bridgeport, NE; two brothers: Richard (Tonya) Stichka of Bridgeport, NE and David (Holly) Stichka of Philadelphia, PA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father Joe.
