Betty Clark, a former Sidney resident died Thursday evening, September 24, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 1, 2015 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Leonard Suhr of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home with cremation to follow. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the family.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Betty June Clark, the daughter of William and Elta (Morris) Cruise was born August 14, 1928 in Sidney, Nebraska. She grew up in Sidney and attended the Sidney Public Schools. Her father died when she was 1 year old. Her mother married Nova Tarpening and they raised her.
On June 30, 1946 she was united in marriage to Gerald Clark at the Presbyterian Church in Sidney. Betty owned and operated the Green Lantern Café for 9 years. She also worked at Mary’s Eastside Café and Janda & Tobin Drug Store. When her husband was transferred by the railroad to Cheyenne, Wyoming she worked at Cal’s Café until her retirement in 1974. She and her husband moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska 10 years ago.
Survivors include her son Jerry Clark and wife Kay of Gering, NE; one brother LaVern Tarpening and wife Canarae of Sidney, NE; one sister Ruthie Baker and husband Bennie of Phoenix, AZ; 3 Grandchildren and 7 Great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Clark, brother William Cruise and sister Donna (Tarpening) Sharp.
