Helen Mae Lindsey, 93 a longtime Cheyenne County resident died late Thursday evening, September 24, 2015 at Sidney Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 1, 2015 in the First Christian Church with Pastors Dr. Curtis Davis and Pete Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the First Christian Church or the donor’s choice.
Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.
She was born September 26, 1921 on the family home in the Weyerts Commnity east of Gurley, Nebraska to William and Alberta (Wickard) Frerichs. She lived and was raised in the Sunol and Sidney area, where she attended rural Cheyenne County schools.
On October 3, 1937 she was united in marriage to Jim Lindsey at the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church.. They had 65 years together living on farms in Lodgepole, Dalton and Bushnell, Nebraska. They moved to Sidney in 1950 where her husband pursued a career in the oil and gas industry.
Helen was a member of the First Christian Church and the IOOF Rebeccas. She was a homemaker and loved to cook and garden. She made many quilts that she gave to her kids and grandkids.
Survivors include her children: Robert Lindsey of Sidney, NE; Janet Jones and husband Dick of Albany, LA; John and wife Linda Lindsey of Norman, OK and Linda Kay and husband Bob Wooldridge of Brush, CO; two sisters: Mary Mauer of Scottsbluff, NE and Mae Ella (Bonnie) and husband John Tunin of Ft. Wayne, IN; 13 Grandchildren, 41 Great-grandchildren and 6 Great,great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 6 brothers, 2 sisters, her daughter-in-law Charlotte Lindsey, Robert’s wife and 1 Great,great-grandchild Allison Adela Marie McGee.
