Helen Marie Ardissono, 88, of Oshkosh passed away Sunday morning, October 11, 2015 at the Regional West Garden County Nursing Home in Oshkosh.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church with Father Matt Koperski officiating. Burial will follow in the Oshkosh City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth’s with a rosary service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials in Helen’s name may be designated to St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church or to the Garden County Health Services Foundation- Nursing Home.

Helen Marie was born in McCook, Nebraska on April 13, 1927 to Orvie and Dorothy Larington Newell. They moved north of Oshkosh when Helen was a year old. She attended country school at Pen and Lone Star Country Schools in Garden County. She graduated from Garden County High School in 1944. While living in town during her high school years, she worked part time in the McCormick Dime Store and for Wright’s Funeral Home. She attended Kearney State Teacher’s College for 9 weeks training to become a teacher. She then taught school in the Goodview Country School in Lodgepole, NE for four years.
Helen married Howard Ardissono on June 3, 1948. They lived on the farm until 1996 when Howard retired and they moved into Oshkosh where they enjoyed retirement. She was a wonderful seamstress sewing for her family and making it her home business. She made many wedding dresses for family and friends. And in her later years learned and loved quilt piecing. She loved to cook and bake, and garden. She worked hard and taught her family good work ethics also. She was a long time member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and St Elizabeth Altar Society.
Helen is survived by her four children, Jeanne (Miles) Fiscus, Ron Ardissono, Carol Santero and Jim (Mary) Ardissono, 11 grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, her parents, a sister, and a son-in-law.
