Katherine Drew

April 2, 1949 — November 19, 2015

Katherine Marie Wells Albertson was born to Robert Clyde Wells and Lois Marie Davis Wells on April 2, 1949 in Guthrie Oklahoma. Kathy passed away peacefully in her sleep November 19, 2015 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Kathy lived in Guthrie, Oklahoma until she was three-years-old and moved to Casper, Wyoming when her father took a job with the railroad. Kathy attended St. Anthony’s school through the 8th grade and went to Natrona County High School. In later years Kathy attended an online culinary course with her husband, John, and became a professional chef. She learned to play the piano when she was young and played for most of her years. As a child, Kathy was a main care giver to her younger siblings, making sure they were fed, bathed, dressed and when old enough, sent to school.

She married Andrew Cook Drew on April 12, 1966 in Elko, Nevada. They had three children. They made their home in Casper, Wyoming. Kathy ran a day care out of their home and was “mother” to many children. During the”80’s Kathy and Andy moved to the Orin Junction Rest area in Wyoming and maintained it for a time. While living there, they adopted their daughter, Misty. They moved to Powell, Wyoming and operated a grocery store, and lived in a few places around the Big Horn Basin.

Kathy and Andy went separate ways in 2001.

She married John Stanley Albertson March, 21, 2003 in California. Kathy and John worked for several National parks including Death Valley and Yellowstone National Park, in the food service industry. Kathy being the head chef for the employees. Kathy enjoyed this so much that she became a master chef.

Kathy and John had settled in Oshkosh, Nebraska, buying some land to retire on.

More than anything, Kathy loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were her life. She liked to have a dog or two around as well. She liked to garden, cook, play cards (she always won so I think she cheated) and travel. She truly enjoyed life. She was happy about everything she did. She didn’t grumble at work, it had to be done, so it was fun. She laughed easily and often. Always had a kind word to say and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Kathy leaves her husband John Albertson of Oshkosh, Nebraska. Four children; Susan (Justin) Vaught of Sidney, Nebraska.; Andy (Tammy) Drew of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming; Ed (Shellie) Drew of Powell, Wyoming.; and Misty (Tim) Kopp of Oshkosh, Nebraska. Two sisters: Mary Jorden of Tempe, Arizona and Connie (Rich) McIntosh of Worland, Wyoming. Four brothers: Robert (LeeAnne) Wells of Bossier City, Louisiana; Jim (Kathy) Wells of Bakersfield, California; Joe Wells of Marysville, California and Tom (Mary) Wells of Grand Junction, Colorado. Thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Seth Drew.
