Donald “Don” Marsh, 91, of Oshkosh, passed away early Monday morning, December 28, 2015 at the Regional West Garden County Nursing Home in Oshkosh.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December31, 2015 at the Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh with Brenda Tophoj, PMA officiating. Burial will follow at the Antelope Valley Cemetery near Oshkosh with military honors.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm.
Memorials in Don’s name can be made to the donor’s choice or to the family for later designation.
Donald Dean Marsh was born to Ira and Ida (Colberg) Marsh on July 13, 1924 in Arthur, Nebraska.
He was drafted in the Army in June 1943 and served in France, Luxemburg, Belgium, and Germany. Donald served two years, seven months, and one day in ETO, three campaigns, Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Donald married Vera Mae Kiley on August 19, 1947 at Alliance, Nebraska. They lived in Ogallala, Morrill and Lyman, Nebraska before settling in Oshkosh in the late 1980’s after Don retired from Couplamatic in Lyman in 1986.
Donald is survived by his wife, Vera Marsh, daughters, Shirley (Dennis) Debus of Torrington, WY and Sharon Marsh of Colorado; sister, Roberta Kennedy of Oregon; brother, Frank Marsh of Arthur; grandchildren, Kimberly Martin of Casper, WY, Melissa Hiles of South Dakota, Russ Marsh of Kentucky; and great-grandchildren, Kaysha, Bailey, Alex, and Katlin Martin and Ezra, Mason, and Brooklynn Hiles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil, Allen, Edwin, and Barten; and sisters, Lola Kofmehl, Louise Schultz, Inez Kohler, and Irene Armstrong.
