Marvin Brott

Marvin LeRoy Brott, 76 of Chappell, Nebraska passed away Friday morning, March 11, 2016 at his home in Chappell.

                      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell with Rev. Neil L. Carlson officiating. Burial will follow in the Chappell Cemetery.

                      Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell with the family present.

                      Memorials have been established to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Chappell Fire and Ambulance Services

                       He was born in Madrid, Nebraska to Henry and Anna (Lofing) Brott on March 26, 1939. He attended grade school in rural Perkins County and High School in Madrid, later receiving his GED in the early 1970’s. Marvin enlisted in the National Guard in 1959. He received an Honorable Medical Discharge in 1966.

                       He was united in marriage to Lillace Brestel on December 8, 1963. They celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary in 2013.

                       Marvin worked in agriculture for most of his life. He farmed and ranched in Deuel County for 43 years. He retired in 2012.

                       He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he served in various offices and positions throughout the years. He was a Deuel County Commissioner for 2 four year terms. He was a member of the Jaycees and served on the Chappell Fire Board.

                       Marvin is survived by his wife Lillace Brott of Chappell, NE; two sons: Steve and wife Kelle of Chappell, NE and Joel and wife Susan of Lincoln, NE; five grandchildren: Kori (Andrew) Yendra, Cody Scofield, Kegan Brott, Colin Brott and Alena Brott; three great-grandchildren: Max, Parker and Kyndel Yendra; two brothers: Walter Brott of Roscoe, NE and Harvey (Jeanne) Brott of North Platte, NE; one sister Katherine (Ronald) Stuehm of Holdrege, NE; sister-in-law Beverly (Clint) Peters; a brother-in-law Max Brestel and over 100 nieces and nephews.

                        Preceding him in death were his parents, 5 sisters and 6 brothers.
