Peggy Lou Lenz, 76 of Sidney, Nebraska died Sunday evening, March 15, 2016 at Sidney Regional Medical Center, Extended Care.
At her request cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Her remains will be inurned at the Weyerts Cemetery east of Gurley, Nebraska at a later date.
Peggy was born on August 21, 1939 to Lewis and Katherine (Borges) Lenz in Chappell, Nebraska. The family moved to a farm near Lodgepole, Nebraska where as a girl she enjoyed helping her mother gardening and with the cooking to take dinner to the field workers during harvest.
In 1958 Peggy married Dean Youngs and a year later their son Louis Dean was born. When the marriage ended in 1983, she reclaimed her maiden name.
Peggy was employed at Coors Ceramics as an operator/inspector from 1978 to 1997. She took great pride in her work there and loved the challenge it presented. She made lifetime friends there. After retiring she moved to Sidney to help her mother.
All of her life she loved plants, especially flowers, and they loved her and thrived under her care. Peggy had a wonderful curiosity and needed answers for things most of us just accept without question.
She is survived by her brother Dan (Cheryl) Lenz of Westminster, CO; half sister Lois Schlake; half brother Darrell (Barbara) Lenz of Chappell, NE and their families.
Peggy’s son preceded her in death as did her parents and brother Russ.
Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney assisted the family with arrangements.
