William "Bill" Patterson

William A. Patterson, 86, of Oshkosh passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the University Medical Center in Omaha.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Oshkosh Methodist Church with Jeniffer Brand officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oshkosh City Cemetery.
There will be no visitation and the casket will be closed at the church.
The family asks for no flowers, but instead a donation to one’s favorite charity or person in need.

William Andrew Patterson was born on September 30, 1929 in Lutherville, Nebraska, the eighth child of James and Lena (Gordon) Patterson. He attended school in Garden County and graduated from Garden County High School in 1946. He farmed with family until he joined the Air Force in 1948. After his discharge in 1952 he returned to Garden County.
On January 18, 1959 he was untied in marriage to Alice Lee Newell. To this marriage 3 daughters were born, LeAnn, Joan and Connie.
The couple made their home in Oshkosh with Bill working for a short time at the Ford garage. In 1962 Bill began working as the Oshkosh City Clerk/Treasurer and Administrator. He served on the League of Nebraska Municipalities and was president from 1978-79 and many legislative committees for over 21 years. He also served on the Board of Educational Service Unit No. 14 and was a part of the Oshkosh Volunteer Fire Department serving as fire chief from 1978-83.
Bill and Alice are members of the Oshkosh Methodist Church and have both served as board members.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing with relatives and friends, sports, especially the Broncos and Huskers, gardening, and always had a trick or a rhyme for a child.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Lee of Oshkosh; daughters, LeAnn and husband, Terry Brown of Lewellen, Joan Patterson of Oshkosh, and Connie and Pat Peterson of Oshkosh; 3 grandchildren, Carla and husband, Dutch Orr, Jerad and wife, Shelli Peterson, and Abbey Brown; 2 great grandchildren, Karma and Ralen Peterson; brother, Jim and wife, Becky Patterson of Oshkosh; sister, Lillie Robinson of Loveland, CO; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mae Orr, Margie Orr, Winnie Roberts, Nellie Loyd, and Dorothy Fischer.
