James “Jim” Jameson, 81, of Oshkosh passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Regional West Garden County Nursing Home in Oshkosh.
Private Family services will be held at a later date.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Memorials in Jim’s name can be made to the donor’s choice.
James Leroy Jameson was born on May 6, 1935 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Harold and Ruby (Nigh) Jameson. The family lived in Shawnee until 1940 when they moved to Long Beach, California. Jim attended a military school in California before the family moved to Garden County in 1946. He graduated from Garden County High School in 1953. The family moved once again to Garden Grove, California where Jim attended Santa Ana Community College earning his Associates degree in engineering.
Jim was drafted into the Army on March 21, 1958 and was discharged on February 29, 1960. He returned to Garden Grove and began his 32 year long career as a Civil Engineer with the City of Garden Grove.
He was united in marriage to Rita (Piro) Kettenhofen on January 16, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jim retired in 1995 and in 1996 the couple moved to Oshkosh.
Jim was a car enthusiast and will be fondly remembered for his smile and whistling. Jim and Rita enjoyed traveling.
His failing health caused him to move into the nursing home in January of 2011 where he spent his final years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Rita of Oshkosh, step-son, Randy and wife, Carol Kettenhofen of Loveland, Colorado, step-daughter, Debra and husband, Jesse Orona of Sun City, California, step-grandson, Andrew and Amy McCune of Hemet, California, brother, Bill and wife, Lynn Jameson of Oshkosh and many, many, cousins, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
