Martie Beam

March 28, 1944 — September 6, 2016

Martie A. Beam, 72, of Oshkosh passed away Tuesday afternoon September 6, 2016 in Omaha after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Oshkosh United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeniffer Brand officiating. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery near Oshkosh.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home

Martie was a longtime member of Lions Club where he served on numerous committees. He particularly enjoyed helping with selling peaches, helping rebuild the Ash Hollow sod house and organzing and running cars in the Garden County Fair demolition derbys. He was always #13 and nearly always won. He served for about 20 years as an ambulance driver and EMT helping many people.

Martie deeply cared about the people in the area and his roots in Garden County as a 5th generation here. He had a tremendous work ethic and believed in honesty. Building his businesses in gas stations in Oshkosh and Lewellen was a particular pride. He treated everyone with a smile and respect. He loved a good joke or a prank and laughed a lot, even when he was very ill.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine Beam of Oshkosh, children: Daughter, Shelly Reinhold and husband Dale of Lincoln, Ne, Son, Mike Beam and wife, Sara of Sutherland, Ne, Stepdaughter: Brook Vincent and husband, Craig of Doniphan, NE, Stepsons: Billy Hunt and wife, Becky of Oshkosh, Doug Hunt and wife, Stephanie of Sante Fe, New Mexico, Brothers: Gary Beam and wife, Shari or Loveland, CO, Greg Beam and wife, Kim of Fremont, NE, Sisters: Kathy Moll of Fremont, NE, Cherrie Beam-Callaway and husband, Richard of Fremont, NE, 12 Grandchildren and 1 great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by parents: George and Betty Beam, formerly of Oshkosh, NE, Brother; Russell Beam, Grandparents; Maurice and Alvira Brennan and Cecil and Percy Beam of Oshkosh, Great grandparents: Great grandparents Brennans, Duffins, Monahans, Ohlsens and Petersens, all of Oshkosh.
