Gerald Klemke, 84, of Oshkosh passed away Sunday morning, December 4, 2016 at the Regional West Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh with Father Matthew Koperski officiating. Burial will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance at a later date.
A rosary service will be held Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. at the church.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Memorials in Jerry’s name can be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Oshkosh Senior Center or to the Garden County Health Services Foundation (specific to the nursing home).
Gerald (Jerry) Francis Klemke, the second of nine children, was born on August 2, 1932 to Albert and Mabel (Romer) Klemke at Alliance, Nebraska. Jerry attended elementary school in Box Butte County and graduated high school at Alliance High School. He entered the Air Force upon graduation, serving in the United States and England. In 1956 he left the military and started work at Dobson Construction Company where he worked for 40 years. In July, 1969 he married Dorothy Cavenaugh in Seward, Nebraska. Upon his retirement and the death of his wife, he moved to Oshkosh, Nebraska in 2000 to be closer to family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and interaction with friends. After moving to Oshkosh, Jerry was employed at Oshkosh Superette and enjoyed many meals and card games at the Oshkosh Senior Center. Jerry courageously battled health issues for over 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his parents, brother Melvin, sister Betty, and brother-in-law Melvin Braden. He is survived by brothers Robert (Addie), Ronald (Lynne), Albert (Dorothy) and sisters Claudia Braden, Carolyn Klemke, Sylvia Klemke and numerous nieces and nephews.
