Chuck was born in Akron, OH on October 1, 1950 and lived there through high school. He was a track runner for his high school, Coventry High, as well as a member of JROTC before going to college to study business at Akron University. While in college, he met, dated, and married Patty Watkins in 1971. While finishing school, they began their family with a baby girl, Chandra, in 1973. Upon graduation from college in 1974, he enlisted in the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant.
Chuck served for 2 years, which included stations in and around Texas and (then) West Germany. Once in West Germany he was close enough to the border of East Germany where he recalled seeing his communist counterparts mirroring their movements. His tour ended just in time for him to return home for the birth of his 2nd child, Andy.
After the Army, Chuck obtained a position with Hoechst-Roussel Pharmaceuticals as a salesman in the great state of Nebraska. This move came in 1978 and took him, Patty, Chandra, and Andy to Omaha. Shortly after their arrival in Omaha, they were joined by the newest member of the family, Kevin, in 1979. They became members of South Side Assembly of God (now Spirit Life), where they were members for 42 years and made many lifelong friends. Chuck enjoyed serving as a, deacon for many years, Junior and Senior Bible Quiz coach, as well as coaching and pitching for the men’s softball team. In 1994 we adopted Brien Boyce into the family.
He loved his family and enjoyed watching and photographing his kids in church and school productions, as well as the various sports they were involved with. He would never turn down the offer of a Sunday afternoon drive … any day of the week. His dad-humor was legendary and could always solicit a groan and/or a laugh from anyone listening. After raising their family, Chuck and Patty moved to Chappell NE in 2018 for retirement.
In his final months, his life was not the easiest, but his constant life of prayer helped him and his family manage the complications from debilitating strokes. He touched the lives of many nurses, aides, and community members with his constant praying and there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that he was and is a man of faith. He is survived by his wife, Patty, brother Randy (Fay), sister Kay (Ron Eickmeier), daughter Chandra (Rich), sons Andy, Kevin (Beth) and Brien (Shanna), grandkids LeeAnne, Kali, William, Nathan, and Chloe, and great-grandkids Finnley and TBD.
He is preceded in death by his sister Sharon and parents Jack and Ruth Jacobs.
