David Owen Jones, 82, of Huntley, Illinois and Lisco, Nebraska, passed away on Friday afternoon, June 15th, 2018, at the Great Plains Health Hospital in North Platte, Nebraska. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.
Memorial Services were held on Sunday, June 17th, 2018 in Lisco. Services in Illinois will be held at a later date and announced when scheduled.

David Owen Jones was born on April 4th, 1936 in Burlington, Iowa to Lewellyn and Carrie (Locke) Jones. His parents later divorced, and the family moved to Des Moines, where his mother later met and married George M. Stanton. The family then moved to Southern California. He graduated from University High School in Los Angeles. After high school, he joined the army, serving for a time in Italy. He then graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a degree in electronics engineering.
On June 8th, 1964 he was united in marriage in Los Angeles, California to Carolyn C. Wells of Lake Forest, Illinois. They made their home in Illinois, where they became parents to Carolyn, Ruth, Helen, and Georgia. In the past decade, he and his wife changed their permanent residence to Lisco, Nebraska.
David loved outdoor activities including running, biking, hiking, and skiing. Keeping with his love of the outdoors, David was a volunteer ski patroller at a local ski area. He also was one of the first paramedics in Hampshire, Illinois, serving the community for nearly 20 years. He traveled extensively with his wife and daughters, camping throughout the United States. Later, he traveled widely with his wife and extended family to destinations including Egypt, the Mediterranean, Alaska, England and the Galapagos Islands.
David worked at several small independent banks, starting as a teller and working up to president. The banks eventually became First American Bank, where David worked as Executive Vice President of Human Resources and served on the board of directors as corporate secretary. His career spanned over 50 years.
David is remembered for his dry wit, tenacity, and infectious laugh. He enjoyed a wide range of musical styles. He was also enthusiastic about keeping with the latest technology, starting with the very first publicly available computers, and loved sharing his knowledge with others.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; 4 daughters, Carolyn and husband Mark Lukasick of Ottawa, Illinois; Ruth and husband John Lee of Gilberts, Illinois, Helen and husband Steve Gaimari of Davis, California, Georgia and husband Grant Rosenblum of El Macero, California; 8 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; brother, John and wife Pat Jones of West Hills, California; brother-in-law Tom and wife Mary Ann Wells of Lake Forest, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, step-father and a brother, Charles E. Jones.
