DeLoris Clark was born August 8, 1928 in Gillette, Wyoming to Ray and Anna Clark.  They moved to Lewellen the following year.  She attended grade school at District 45 East near Lewellen and Garden County High School.  In 1946 she passed the Nebraska State Teachers examination.  She graduated in 1947 and got her teaching certificate.

She taught school for 3 years and District 8 North.  She then taught in Keith county for 2 years and Garden county for 2 more.  These were very rewarding years for her and many times later in life she yearned to return to the teaching profession, but the love of her family that was soon to come satisfied her needs.

DeLoris married David DeLaet on May 7, 1953 and to this union 3 children, Dwight, Dee Anna and Dru were born.

DeLoris and David inherited the Clark farm and spent their lives farming that ground and acquiring neighboring land.  In March of 1981 the DeLaet family was presented an award by the North Platte Natural Resources District as the honor “Conservation Family of the Year”.

She will be remembered for her beautiful wedding cakes.  She was always willing to help with any church functions.  DeLoris and David are members of the Lewellen United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband David; sons, Dwight and wife, Peggy DeLaet of Omaha and Dru DeLaet of Lewellen; grandchildren, Angie and husband Ryan Gobel, Brita DeLaet, and Abby and husband Ben; sister, Carolee Matthews; brother-in-law Lynn and wife Ann DeLaet of Kearney and many nieces nephews and cousins from Colorado, Arizona and Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dee Anna, parents, and brother, Garth Clark, sister and brother-in-law Wilma and Ralph Keil.
