Donald C. Fischer, 89 of Lewellen passed away peacefully on February 6, 2019, at his home on Blue Creek.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Lewellen with Jerry Smith of the Oshkosh Church of Christ officiating. Masonic Rites will be performed at the church. Burial will be held at a later date in the Plum Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Don's name can be made to the Grace Lutheran Church or to the Masonic Lodge.
Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home and Cremations in Oshkosh is serving the Fischer family.
Donald was born the day of the great stock market crash, October 19, 1929 on a farm near Belmar NE, which is now in Lake McConaghy, to Christian C & Mary V (Berglund) Fischer. The family moved to the current home place, North of Lewellen, in March 1939. Donald remained there except for his Army service from September 13, 1954 to September13, 1956 stationed in New York. He entered into partnership with his brother R.C (Pete) in 1948 which lasted 49 years until Pete’s death. Donald retired from active farming in 2010 but remained involved in supplemental roles.
Donald was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge #286, the Shriners and regularly attended auctions at Ogallala Livestock Sale barn.
He is survived by his sister Ella (Robert) Wiest of Holyoke, CO, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Even though Donald never married, nor had children of his own, he had a special spot in his heart for his nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Albert, Ernest, and Richard Fischer, and sisters Helen Kile, Mae Neumann, and Frances Fischer.
