Gerald Tremain

Gerald Eugene Tremain, age 84, of Sidney, NE, passed away on February 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the Sidney Regional Medical Center.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the Sidney Faith Methodist Church in Sidney with Pastor Corey Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. 

The services will be streamed live and available to watch after the service on the Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home Facebook page (www.facebook.com/hbfunerals).

Cremation has been chosen and there will be no visitation.

Born in Sidney, NE, on November 30, 1940, to Cecil and Lillie (Michelman) Tremain, Gerald attended Cheyenne County country schools and graduated from Sunol High School. He was raised on the family farm north of Sunol, where he assisted his father with the farming. As a young man, he worked for the Safflower Plant and Sidney Implement, the local John Deere dealer.

Gerald married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Zalesky, on November 8, 1959, at the First United Methodist Church in Sidney. They had three children: Kurt, Kim, and Kelley, and lived their entire married life in Sidney.

Gerald's passion was his family and farming in Cheyenne County and Laramie County, Wyoming. He farmed with his son and grandsons until his health would not allow him to continue. He was an avid NASCAR fan and attended many races in Daytona Beach, FL, and Kansas City, KS. He enjoyed classic cars and was a member of the Cruise and Class Car Club. Gerald was a long-time member of the Sidney Elks Lodge and loved to socialize with anyone who had the time to listen.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; his son, Kurt (Jackie) Tremain of Sidney NE; his daughters, Kim Harms of Chappell NE, and Kelley (Rick) Gross of Julesburg CO; his grandchildren, Cody (Jodi) Harms, Colby (Beth) Harms, Adam Gross and significant other, Kara Todoric, and Alyssa (Jason) Shepard; his sister, Carol Stewart; his brother, Allen (Steffeny) Tremain; sisters-in-law, Linda Kallhoff and Vicki (Brad) Weingart; many nieces and nephews; four great-grandchildren, Alaina and Landry Shepard, Harrison Harms, Kordell Lovitt; and one great-great-granddaughter, Raielynn Harms.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Emil and Esther Zalesky; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Kallhoff and Charles Stewart.
