Marie Hochman, 89 of Sidney, Nebraska passed away peacefully with her grandson Cole Stiles, by her side on Thursday evening, January 9, 2025 at the Sidney Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Faith Methodist Church in Sidney with Pastor Corey Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00-6:00 pm at the church with the family present.

Marie was born September 5, 1935 in Smackover, Arkansas. She started with the Bell Telephone Company in high school and where she had over 30 years of service. After retiring from the telephone company, she worked at Sidney Public Schools as a lunch lady and also filled in when needed at Design Express. Marie’s had been married to her loving husband Benny Hochman of 31 years. Before Benny's passing, they spent their time together traveling and exploring the word and all it had to offer. Each year she and Benny would go to Lake Havasu, Arizona for the winters where she where she would return home with a bronzed tan. She was a granny to all that loved and cherished her, and was known for her ‘Coke Floats’. She had a vibrant and lively personality, enjoying both the thrill of games and the pleasures of good company, food, and drink. She also looked forward to gambling every year filled with laughter and loved ones. But most of all she cherished the times she spent with her daughter Donna Gorrie and her three grandchildren Cole Stiles, Seth Stiles, and Drew Stiles. Her loving grandson Cole had taken care of Marie the last few years. Shortly before she passed, she got to meet her great grandson Salem Ivory, whom she requested to call her ‘Lovey’.
Marie is lovingly remembered by her children Donna Gorrie (Homer) Sidney NE, Rose Lee Holechek (late Richard Holechek) Ogallala NE, Judith Hochman (Bill Stikker), Bruce Hochman (Lori). She also survived by her seven grandchildren Cole Stiles, Seth Stile, Drew Stiles (Isaiah), Rhett Holechek, Ryan Holechek, Ashleigh Fausto, and Ryder Hochman. Additionally, she is survived by her six great grandchildren Salem Ivory, Nora Holechek, Landon Holechek, Max Holechek, Lucy Holechek, and Macsen Holechek, sister Janis Roberts (Paul) Sidney NE as well as many nieces and nephews. Special friends Bill and Linda Walter.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Benny, mother and father Vera and Chris Sparks, sisters, Betty and Dorthy and brother Bill.
