Nancy Leopold

March 4, 1955 — November 11, 2019

Nancy Leopold, 64, of Oshkosh passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, November 11, 2019 at the Regional West Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Oshkosh United Methodist Church with Pastor Janie Freeman officiating.  Burial will be held at 2:00 pm at the Chappell Cemetery.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Memorials in Nancy's name may be directed to the Oshkosh United Methodist Church.

Nancy Sue (Taylor) Leopold was born March 4th, 1955 to Glenn and Marge Taylor. She grew up in Chappell Schools until she graduated in 1973. While she was in high school she participated in the band (4 years), chorus (4 years), Swing Choir (4 years), Pep band (1 year) Pep club (4 years), cheerleading (3 years),  volleyball (2 years), track (1 year), a member of the student council (1 year), National Honor Society ( 2 years), homecoming attendant (2 years), FHA (1 year), class president (1 year), treasurer (2 years), class play (2 years). She attended college at UNK and received her secretarial degree. 

Nancy married Douglas D. Leopold in 1975 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chappell. They moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming where Doug accepted his first teaching job and Nancy worked at the courthouse in the clerk’s office. After 3 years they then moved to Oshkosh in 1978 and was blessed with their first daughter Jennifer Sue Leopold. Nancy was a stay at home mom and babysat many of the teacher’s kids while  Doug was employed at the Garden County High School, as the art teacher. In the summer of 1983, they were blessed with their second child Jill Marie Leopold. Soon after, Nancy began working at Kids Korner. In 1988 she began working at Garden County Elementary. She loved working with all the students and teachers. She retired after 28 years.

After retirement, Nancy enjoyed being with grandkids and her whole family. She became active in UMW. She loved to keep up with all friends and family. She also loved going out with friends. She was also a woman of tremendous faith. She read her bible daily and prayed for most of us continually. She was a devoted member of Bible classes over the last several years. Nancy was an amazing housewife, who took care of that needed to be done. Most of all she loves and took care of Doug. He leaned on her every day during their 44 years together.

She is survived by her daughters: Jenny (Matt) Ormiston and Jill (Adam) Hill;  Sisters:  Jane(Keith) Schiller and Julie(Dan) Overall;  Step sisters Martha(Jim) Beck; Step brothers:  Pat(Arlene) Myles, Charlie(Barb) Myles, Mike(Joan) Myles;  Grandchildren: Paisley Ormiston, Pearl Ormiston, Keona Hill, Adam Hill Jr., Aliyah Leopold, Allison Hill; Nieces: Andi (Brad) Townsend, Dana(Kenny) DeRoque, Adriana (Jesse) Shinn, Lisa (Jason) Von Hoff, Allison (Ben) Harrell; Nephews: J.R. (Amanda) Schuler, Robert Leopold; Special family friends Jerry and Sharon Sutton and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that meant a lot to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn (Marjorie) Taylor and stepfather Edward Myles.
