Ryan was born to Randy and Cindy Brown on January 26th, 1981 in Sidney, Nebraska. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, golf, fishing, spending time at his grandma Brown’s farm, going to Lake McConaughy, and being with friends and family throughout his childhood. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1999.
Ryan attended college at the University of Nebraska in Kearney in the fall of 1999. His love of sports continued into his adulthood. He put a softball team of friends together that ended up playing in State tournaments several years. Ryan met his wife to-be, Melissa Burrows, there in 2007 while she was attending UNK. They were married on June 18th, 2011 and were blessed with boy/girl twins, Jayce and Brinley, on April 18th, 2016. During their time in Kearney they enjoyed spending time with friends watching Husker games, playing horseshoes, playing pitch, enjoying music and hanging out in the backyard. He loved UNC basketball games, Dodger baseball and Husker football. Ryan and Melissa also did a lot of traveling to see family in the panhandle.
Ryan was very meticulous, handy, and had an eye for detail which led him to a career of building and remodeling homes for 100’s of families. In 2014, Ryan and Melissa moved to Omaha, Nebraska after Ryan took a position as a Project Superintendent with The Home Company where he has worked ever since. Ryan held many great attributes, too many to list all of them. He had a smile that would light a room and bring joy to a rough day, he was faithful and reliable, ornery and stubborn at times with a great sense of humor, and a protector of those he loved. Even in the thick of his sickness his biggest concern was that his wife and children would be okay. Ryan liked to keep things simple, was down to earth, easy to talk to and always made people feel comfortable and welcome. He was truly a special man whose light touched so many people. His legacy will live on in his children and he will not be forgotten.
Ryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents L.C. and Eula Brown; his maternal grandma Laurie Barnica and his uncle Randy Barnica.
He leaves behind his wife, Melissa, and two-year old twins, Jayce and Brinley; his mother and step-father, Cindy Schuessler and Fred Johnston of Bear, DE; his father and step-mother, Randy & Carrie Brown of Sidney, NE; brothers Jeremy Brown of East Lansing, MI and Trevor Schuessler and wife Amelia of Sidney, NE; and sister Kelsey Schuessler of Springfield, MO. He also leaves behind several family members and numerous friends whom have become family.
