Scottie Krautschun

Scott “Scottie” Krautschun, 66, of Oshkosh, passed away early Saturday morning, December 28, 2024 at the Sidney Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Lewellen Tiger Den with Charity Neal officiating. Private burial will be held in the Plum Creek Cemetery near Lewellen. 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm. to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home in Oshkosh.

Scott Allen Krautschun was born August 12, 1958 in Loveland, Colorado to Harvey and Irene (Barrow) Krautschun. He was the youngest of 5 boys and was later a big brother to a sister. Growing up Scottie received the name Maggot, he could out eat anyone and still stay skinny. 

At age 17, he hitchhiked to California where he lived under a bridge for a month before he could join the military. He chose to join the infantry in the Army where he earned several medals and certificates. Scottie was very proud to serve and play semi-pro football for the Army in Germany and United States. One of his biggest achievements in the military was cross-training with France, Sweden, and England in the 100 Mile March which he broke his ankle and still cross the finish line.

Scottie was the jack of all trades. He farmed, raised livestock, mechanic, ran a crew that fixed pavement, worked directional boring, laying sewer pipe, fencing, and worked at a lumber yard. He was hard working, loved his family and friends, yet kind and would help anyone who needed it. He knew no strangers. His hobbies were fishing, fixing old equipment and vehicles and doing domestic and wildlife rehab.

He was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024 and in December he was diagnosed with kidney failure. On December 28, he passed away at Sidney Regional Medical Center. 

He was lucky to have a large family; wife, Patti Krautschun; kids, Allen and Donna Teele, Amanda and Joel Nelson, Corey and Chantel Burch, Travis Burch, Ryan and Stephanie Lawrence, Scott Jr. and Amanda Krautschun, Natasha Krautschun and Zach Jahner, Cody and Lynn Krautschun, Kassandra and Valentine Espino, Kacey Fox, and Ernest Fox; grandchildren, Kaylee and Jacob, Sara, Gracie and Gage, Mason and Izzy, Kyliegh and Mikey, Anden and Haley, Amber and Austin, McKeala, Marilyn, Kaysea and Ricky, Toby and Madison, John, Tempest, Jeff, Kaylee, Anna, Wyatt, Penelope and Fergus, Kateline and Layla; great grandchildren, Emmett, Ricky, Erza, Oakland, Thomas, Foster, and Kacey; brothers, Ron, Harvey Jr., Gary, Rodger; sister, Barbara; special friends, Nick and Amy Patty and Henry Schuff; many nieces, nephews cousins and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Marty.
